High creativity

YADAVINDRA SINGH, THE "MAGNIFICENT" OF PATIALA

Yadavindra Singh, the Maharajah of Patiala, a prominent client of the House in the 1930s, renowned for his exuberant style and lavish commissions, was a major source of inspiration for this collection. It was a special request from the Maharaja that changed S.T. Dupont's history and brought it into the world of fire and lighters. Indeed, in 1941, "The Magnificent," as he was known, wished to equip his minaudières with pocket lighters. The fact that this had never been done before prompted Lucien and André Tissot Dupont to create the first petrol lighter, thus inviting the House of S.T. Dupont into a new world of excellence. This historic collaboration opened new creative avenues for the Manufacture and sealed its association with luxury and timeless elegance. The Haute-Création Maharaja & Maharani collection draws inspiration from these legendary minaudières and the sovereign's jewels.

The opulence of an era

Inspired by the timeless elegance of Art Deco, this design embodies the refinement characteristic of high jewelry. The piece subtly combines green lacquer, malachite, mother-of-pearl, white diamonds, and white gold, in a perfect balance of textures and light. The lotus motif, India's national symbol and emblem of its art and mythology, delicately enhances the base, imbuing this creation with a unique cultural and poetic dimension.

A sumptuous Art Deco inspiration

Under the reign of the Maharaja of Patiala, Indian luxury reached its peak. Majestic palaces, precious marble, gilding, and rare stones created a setting worthy of royal grandeur. Gold-embroidered silk fabrics and diamond-encrusted jewels showcased exceptional craftsmanship. Every detail, reflecting a refined tradition, celebrated opulence and timeless elegance.
