Master Lighter
MASTER LIGHTER
S.T. DUPONT x FRANCK MULLER
EXCELLENCE IN THE SERVICE OF TWO COMPANIES
Franck Muller was founded in Switzerland in 1991, while S.T. Dupont was preparing to celebrate its 120th anniversary. With its in-house workshop, overflowing creativity, and influential culture of innovation, this specialist in complications quickly established itself as one of the most prestigious names in Swiss luxury watchmaking.
Founded in 1872, S.T. Dupont designs handmade luxury accessories in its workshops in Faverges, in the French Alps. Driven by its creativity and savoir-faire, the company launched the first luxury lighter in 1941. Constantly redesigned with goldsmith's guilloché and Chinese lacquer, it quickly became an iconic object known worldwide.
By joining forces, these two unique crafts find new life in these Master Lighters with watch movements, a true synthesis of traditional craftsmanship and complex innovation.
It took more than two years to develop the S.T. Dupont x Franck Muller "Master Lighters," incredibly complex objects that represent a true technical feat. This unique partnership brings together Franck Muller's watchmaking mastery and the savoir-faire of S.T. Dupont's goldsmiths, thus creating exceptional pieces.
THE FIRST WATCH COMPLICATION LIGHTER
A REAL INNOVATION
A fusion of Franck Muller's watchmaking mastery and S.T. Dupont's artisans' expertise in precious metals, creating an exceptional object.
The technical feat lies in the fact that the axis indicating the hours and minutes passes through the center of the lighter. This ingenious connection ensures precise energy transmission, allowing for a reliable and harmonious time display. The elegant integration of this mechanism highlights the watch's technical innovation and refined aesthetics.
MASTER WATCHMAKER
The "Swiss Made" skeleton movement with power reserve, a Franck Muller signature, has been adapted here to create a double-sided skeleton watch with a three-day power reserve inside the lighter's body.
The back of the lighter reveals the watch's skeleton movement in all its splendor. The front dial is identical and is revealed behind the mechanical components of the skeleton movement. To highlight this visual part of the lighter, Franck Muller's engineers devised a system for displaying the seconds hand on this skeleton face, thus affirming their expertise in the manufacture of watch complications.
MASTER OF THE LIGHTER
The iconic S.T. Dupont lighter has been reinvented through advanced micromechanics and the expertise of master goldsmiths. Each engraving bears witness to craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, transforming these lighters into works of art, beyond their primary function.
Thanks to the famous diamond guilloché named "Clous de Paris," every detail is engraved with exceptional finesse. The dial of each piece is adorned with sunburst guilloché under 25 layers of lacquer, meticulously hand-painted.
With a lighter mechanism composed of 75 parts and a watchmaking mechanism composed of 181 parts, this masterpiece required over 100 hours of artisanal work. A testament to the expertise and dedication of our craftsmen, it presents the famous distinctive "Cling" of S.T. Dupont lighters.
A DREAM OF COLOR THAT BECOMES REALITY
Iconic and one of Franck Muller's most famous complications, the "Color Dreams" numerals are meticulously hand-painted, separately, for each of the colors.
To allow for a rainbow of colors, the satin bridges have been designed to accentuate the piece's very distinct architecture. This very special finish illustrates the passion for craftsmanship and the art of detail, characteristic of the Franck Muller manufacture.
Featuring two faces, this object offers a complete and fascinating animation. Its unique design gives it an almost living, evolving, and dynamic appearance. This impression of life and movement is accentuated by the attention to detail and the precision of the mechanism, making it a particularly captivating piece.
AN EXQUISITE WORK OF ART
Master Lighters are available in four timeless designs: White, Color Dreams, Blue, and Black PVD. Each finish is limited to 88 pieces and embodies a unique blend of tradition and innovation. Master Lighters are the epitome of the perpetual elegance championed by S.T. Dupont and Franck Muller.
