Invented by S.T. Dupont and adored by celebrities, Ligne 1 established itself as an icon from its creation. Its signature vertical guilloché pattern and shiny black lacquer embody the House's artisanal excellence.

Jackie Kennedy and the Ligne 1 myth

In the 1960s, the luxury lighter, created twenty years earlier by S.T. Dupont, became a prized diplomatic gift. One of them, a golden Ligne 1 adorned with a discreet "J," was given to Jackie Kennedy by André Malraux, then Minister of Cultural Affairs for General de Gaulle.

Touched by this gesture and charmed by French elegance, the First Lady developed a true attachment to this object, both intimate and functional. So much so that she later asked S.T. Dupont to create a pen to match her lighter — an order that would give birth to the Classique, the House's first luxury pen.

An iconic design, revisited

Also adopted by Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn, the Ligne 1 quickly established itself as a symbol of style and independence. Made in France with unparalleled goldsmith expertise, it captivated with its compact size and "so chic" allure.

In 2025, the legend is reborn: the new Ligne 1 reinvents itself with a slightly more generous volume — 50 mm high and 37 mm wide — while remaining the smallest of S.T. Dupont luxury lighters. This jewel of balance is adorned with gold or palladium finishes, and is available in a fully metallic version or contrasted with a shiny black lacquer body.

The legendary “Cling,” a signature of refinement

Upon opening its lid, the famous "Cling" resonates once again: this pure and precise sound, recognizable among all, is the acoustic signature of S.T. Dupont lighters. It symbolizes style, distinction, and perfect mastery of the gesture.
